Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro Headphones - 80 Ohm
This is professional equipment and should last for many years.
The audio connection is via a soft, flexible cable and a stereo 3.5mm or 6.35mm plug. There are no batteries or Bluetooth. Third parties make adapters to use the DT 770 with USB-C or Lightning connectors found on Apple mobile devices.
The English rock band Pink Floyd has long been known for having produced some of the highest quality recorded audio for any realm of music.
In April, 2021, Pink Floyd founding member Roger Waters released a new music video where he wears his own DT 770 headphones.
To me that video's audio is superb, and it's a clever play on the Zoom + WFH lifestyle, executed at a high level of technical skill.
The preparation to fully enjoy the DT 770 is that you need to define how and when you're going to use the DT 770 for your own listening. For that you need to consider:
- The audio quality of your music source, including whether that source can play music loudly enough for your tastes.
- That while you are listening with the DT 770 you will be tethered and unable to move too far. The included cable is 9.8 feet (3.8 meters) but cable extensions are available.
- Whether you will use your DT 770s with Studio, Hi-Fi, or Mobile audio sources. The 80 Ohm version is best for all-around use.
